This 2012 snow is welcome for trees in Denver.
If it remains cold, that is good because the soil needs to freeze.
If it gets warm and windy, expect another winter watering alert pretty quick.
But for now monitor soil moisture and Happy Holidays.
Winter Watering Alert
November 29th, 2011 - Denver, Colo.
Denver is already incredibly dry so we issued a notice to water your trees.
Our PHC team is out watering trees today and tomorrow.
And you need to do the same.
That is if you like your trees and want to save money.
Let me explain.
Lack of rain plus this warm weather and wind makes the soil very dry.
Winter watering is a process where you inject 10 gallons of
water per caliper inch of the tree into the soil zone.`
It should be done when air temperature is going to be over 45 degrees for the day. Arborists always say that if you winter water your trees it would require a lot less pest prevention and fertilizer in summer.
Don't put it off.
Make sure your locust, maples and evergreens get the water their roots needs to thrive.
Fill out the form to the left to order winter watering.
It costs $90 on average and starts at $45 for the first hour including travel time.
